P/PPLinda Farris Kurtz informs practitioners and students in the human services about the concepts, theories and research relevant to self-help and support groups. She provides practical advice and direction to professionals for working with these groups while analyzing self-help/support organizations on three different levels in terms of: the groups themselves; the group members; and the practitioners’ interactions with the groups. In addition, this comprehensive volume discusses the most prominent representative associations as examples of different types of groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Recovery Inc, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and the Alzheimer’s Association. It also examines the rise of telephone and on-line self-help, considering the advantages and disadvantages of this style of group interaction. Self help books

We often talk about problems that we encounter in our daily lives. These problems fluctuate, depending on the type of personality we have and how we react to those situations (Are we reactive or Proactive). If we are optimists then things are easy , if pessimists then things get tough, so how to cope when the going gets tough.

Latest study unveils that 50% of our personality is generated from our parents, which means that we have the same visual way of thinking as they do and we react to situations with the same attitude as they do, irrespective of any situation, (positive or negative). Now remains the 50%, which develops through our daily experiences with people and with our own Self. Now that 50% is in our own hands and it highly depends on how we develop it .

Now the question arises: how to develop that.

Here are the ways to develop it:
1): Through interaction with the people u admire the most..
2): through experiences (rough and good).
3): Through academic education.
4): Reading self help Books.

Here comes a thought: which type of books should we go for in order to improve our selves.
Books written by people whom you admire the most. Recently a cousin of mine was inspired by a Philanthropist named George Soros, a messianic billionaire. His book was a show of out class writing that can help us to improve our inner Self (our inner thoughts that can be redefined by reading those self help books). Now this book was about a life and experiences of a person that was raised during the second world war. This book was about survival in a troubled society.

There are many books written by many famous figures and billionaires and who’s lives and experiences can be of a great help to us. People like Nelson Mandela, whose life is full of learning and by studying his biography we can learn many of the things that are essential for a grooming personality and for a better person. One of the great writers of our times, is Stephen Covey, an American writer whose books like The seven habits of highly effective people, in which he explains all about human psychology and personalities and human nature. Some people are fond of reading Biographies of famous Figures but depends on what are they are trying to develop and how is their situation.

The best books I ever read or came across are Following:

1:) 7 Habits of Highly Effective people.
2:) Steps to the top.
3:) Apple(seven rules to change the way you think).
4:) Principal centered Leadership.
5:) First things first.
6:) Motivation:
7:) Time management.

One of my uncles was having the problem of time management. He was recommended to read the book, TIME management. That book helped him a lot to improve his weakness. In the same manner if we want to improve our selves than we should go for those self help books that can result in great changes in our lives.
